The Stock Market (Granville Island)
Because Emily Carr is located in Granville Island, I tend to go to the Granville Island Public Market ALOT. It’s usually for lunch or coffee breaks. If you ask me what my favourite place for lunch is, it’s got to be The Stock Market (such a cute name right?).

No matter what weather or mood, I can never get enough of their soups. All their soups are made fresh in their kitchen and they really don’t cheap out on ingredients. Often, you can see them chopping up ingredients in the back. The soups have no MSG or preservatives and you can really taste how fresh the ingredients are. These are real soups.
Everyday they have 3 soup options: seafood, meat and vegetable. And these change day to day, so you can never get bored. I’m a seafood person and I almost always get their seafood option. Thursday’s soup was Oyster Chowder (pictured above). My oyster chowder had amazing chunks of oyster and plenty of veggies. Oh, and their soups are always served with a big slice of freshly baked foccacia bread. Yum.
Tips: They start serving soup at 11:30am sharp, so don’t bother going early. I would always recommend getting their red snapper and oyster soup.
The Final Verdict: If you’re ever around Granville Island, please do yourself a favour and try their soup. Or at least grab a bag of their soups-to-go. Only complaint I have is that they still use styrofoam containers, not very eco-friendly, but I guess it’s more convenient that way. Just got notified that they are getting eco-friendly compostable bowls next week, sweeeet! :)
